Dhalla Declares Support For The Igg-Meister

I don't know what number this is for MPs supporting Iggs... Ruby Dhalla will also serve as National Campaign Co-Chair along with Senator David Smith and Denis Coderre.

I am so delighted to see Dhalla part of the team. She was first elected in 2004 as the Member of Parliament for Brampton-Springdale, and is the youngest woman MP. She is a community activist, doctor, entrepreneur and has been involved in the Liberal Party since the age of 12. Wow.

Here's what she had to say: “ We must empower women, youth and cultural communities with the right resources and tools for them to succeed in building the Canada they want. Our leader must be able to listen, to inspire and to empower Canadians and Liberals. I believe that leader is Michael Ignatieff. He has already attracted great interest from these groups and is in the best position to make Canada even more successful.”

Welcome aboard and best of luck, Ruby!

This is a big addition for Ignatieff. Not only is Ms. Dhalla one of the smartest women on the hill, she is also one of our party's rising stars.

On a personal note, I got a chance to meet Ruby at the LPCO and she is one of the nicest people I have ever met.

She will certainly serve Iggy well. I'm very pleased to hear this announcement.

Oh wow. She sounds great. I saw her for the first time a few years ago and was super impressed by the fact that she an ethnic minority, a woman and kicking ass.

By the sounds of it, she does seem like a rising star and I wish her all the best.

Ruby is supporting Iggs because she got the co-chair. Otherwise she would have been with another campaign.

anon,

I don't think the only reason why Ruby is supporting Iggs is because she got co-chair. Sounds more like a conspiracy theory to me.

Perhaps it's what tipped her over to him at this point in the race, but still, I don't think you would risk your future for someone you didn't believe in. It's not like Iggs is a shoe-in. What if Rae won or Dion? Then she'd be kind of screwed.
